We’ve all had those days when it feels like you’re running on empty, struggling to catch your breath, or just feeling a bit disconnected from yourself? Maybe you’re dealing with a wave of emotions, a touch of sadness, or simply the overwhelming weight of life’s demands.

This extremely simple, but effective Touch Yoga technique will help you rediscover your breath and bring a bit of calm back into your life, and it takes only a few moments.

What is Breathe Tapping?

Imagine your lungs are like a couple of sponges that’s soak up all sorts of emotions, such as stress, grief, or just the daily grind of life. Over time, that sponge can get pretty saturated. Breath Tapping is a gentle practice that helps wring out that sponge, clearing away the emotional clutter and allowing your breath to flow more freely.

It’s like giving your lungs a little loving nudge, reminding them that it’s okay to release what they’ve been holding onto. By doing this, you’re helping to regulate your lung energy, which can relieve coughing, ease symptoms of asthma, and soothe discomfort in the chest.

Here’s How to Practice Breathe Tapping:

  1. So, let’s take a moment, to smile, and rub our hand together, or imagine that you’re dry washing the hands. Energising the hands.

  2. Now cross one arm over the other, bringing the fingers to gently touch the hollow below the collarbones on either side, now begin to gently tap, breathing deeply. Inhale through your nose, filling your lungs completely, and then exhale through your mouth, imagining all the stress and negativity flowing out with your breath.

  3. Continue to tap, until you feel a deep breath come and go, a reviving of the breath. When we cross our arms we engage and balance the body's energy systems, connecting the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

As you continue tapping and breathing, notice how your chest feels less constricted, lighter and your mind more at ease. This is your body’s way of resetting, letting go, and finding balance again.

Incorporating Breathe Tapping into your daily routine is a wonderful way to maintain balance and support your emotional wellbeing. Just a few minutes each day can help you stay centred, manage stress, and feel more connected to yourself.

So, why not take a moment now to practice Breath Tapping and bring about more balance and calm into your life.
